How your money is held

Where your payment goes

When you add credit with USDC or pay per request, you send USDC on the Base network to Agent Anthill's address:

Every payment to it is public, so anyone can check it on a Base block explorer. Agent Anthill is run by Gardenbooks, a small business in Maine, USA.

Who controls it today

Today that address is a single-key wallet held by Jared, Agent Anthill's founder: one key, held by one person. Agent Anthill's servers hold no key and can't move money. Customers' unused credit and the money Agent Anthill has earned are in the same wallet. That isn't how we want to hold customers' money, so we're changing it.

Payments by PayPal or card

When you buy a credit pack with PayPal or a card, the payment goes to Jared's PayPal business account, and PayPal keeps its fee from it. That money stays with PayPal, not in the Base wallet: the steps under "What we're changing" are about the wallet. Agent Anthill's servers can't move money there either. Your credit is the same prepaid credit either way.

What your credit is

Your balance is prepaid credit for Agent Anthill's services, in US dollars. It isn't a bank account or a deposit, it isn't insured, it can't be withdrawn or sent to anyone else, and the USDC you paid isn't set aside in your name. Credit doesn't expire while Agent Anthill runs. The Terms have the details.

What we're changing

A multi-signature wallet. Customer payments will go to a Safe wallet on Base that needs 2 of 3 separate keys to move any money, so no single lost or stolen key will be able to move it. The keys may move to dedicated hardware devices later.
Status: in progress since October 7, 2026. The Safe wallet was created on Base on October 8, 2026 with the first key; the other two keys are being added. It doesn't hold customer money yet.
Customers' money kept apart from ours. Unused paid credit stays in that wallet. Only money Agent Anthill has earned is moved out, and every movement is recorded.

A daily public check. Every day, the site will compare what the wallet holds with what customers have paid for and not yet used, and publish the result here.

Sanctions screening. Every payment checked against US sanctions lists before it's credited.
Status: planned.

We'll update this page, with dates, as each step is done.

If a payment goes wrong

A deposit must be the exact amount you're given. If you sent a different amount, or something else went wrong, don't send again: email jared@gardenbooks.app with the transaction ID, and we'll credit it by hand once it's checked. The same goes for a PayPal payment that wasn't credited: send PayPal's transaction ID (from PayPal's receipt).
